Each year, the members of the ILLCF select outstanding young people who meet the eligibility criteria to receive Foundation scholarships to help them achieve their educational objectives.   Scholarships are granted to undergraduate college students whose home residence is in Illinois.

This year, $2,000 will be granted to approximately 25 undergraduate college students whose home residence is in Illinois.  The deadline for applications is September 17, 2021 and scholarship winners will be announced toward the end of October 2021.  Scholarship checks will be delivered/paid directly to the student’s college or university to apply toward the student’s tuition and fees.  Scholarship checks will not be paid directly to the individual student.  The scholarship is available to all Illinois students of Latino ancestry, regardless of immigration status.  We encourage all students who meet the criteria to apply.


Scholarship guidelines are the following:

  • An applicant must be currently enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student during the fall term of 2021-22 at an accredited community college or four-year college or university (Undergraduate programs include Associate's or Bachelor's degrees only.  Certificate programs or graduate programs do not apply) ;

  • An applicant must be of Latino ancestry;

  • The application form must be filled out completely, including a 500-word personal statement describing how the scholarship award will help the recipient achieve his or her educational and career goals;

  • A letter of recommendation written by the student’s primary academic advisor or professor is required.  The letter must be on official college letterhead, and must include a contact name, email address and phone number.  Letters of recommendation should be emailed to: and must contain the student’s name on the subject line (e.g. Letter of Recommendation for STUDENT NAME).  

  • Scholarship money must be used in the same academic year as it is granted; and

  • Previous winners of an ILLCF scholarship are not eligible to apply again.
